Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

NearFix (“we”, “us”) is a hyper-local service marketplace that matches homeowners and renters with vetted service providers (electricians, plumbers, roofers, handymen, and more). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

2. What we collect

• Account info: name, email, phone, password hash, role.
• Provider info: business name, license, photos, services, location.
• Booking & job data: what you posted, who quoted, dates, prices, photos.
• Payment data: handled by Stripe — we never store your full card number.
• Usage data: page views, devices, IPs (for security and abuse prevention).

3. How we use it

We use your data to match you with great pros, process payments, send transactional notifications, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and improve the product. We never sell your personal data.

4. Smart Quote (AI)

Photos and descriptions you submit to Smart Quote are sent to a third-party AI (currently OpenAI / Gemini, depending on configuration) to generate a price estimate. We don't share identifying info; the AI only sees image bytes and your prompt.

5. Sharing

We share data only with: (a) the matched provider (your name, message, scheduled time, and post photos), (b) payment processors (Stripe), (c) service providers we hire to run NearFix (hosting, email, SMS), (d) authorities when required by law.

6. Your rights

• Access, correct, or delete your account from /profile/edit.
• Export a copy of your data on request.
• Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed (bcrypt). Tokens use 7-day TTL JWTs. Communications are TLS-encrypted. No system is impenetrable — please use a unique password.
